D-Max-interior-1024x683 Tech and spec with the best safety

Since the previous D-Max was released, Isuzu have spent 8 years in design and development of the new model, and the 2021 D-Max is proof that it was time well spent. Redeveloped from the ground up, this exciting new 3rd generation model really is ‘new’ with a reengineered power train, a new exterior design and new safety and tech features.

The new D-Max is a great looking ute, but it’s more than just good looks and design. Many are saying that the D-Max sets a new technology benchmark.

Standard features across the range include a 7.0 or 9.0-inch multimedia screen with sat nav and Apple CarPlay (wireless) and Android Auto (via USB), dual-zone climate control and electric lumbar-adjust for the driver’s seat.

New safety technology includes Isuzu’s Intelligent Driver Assistance System (IDAS), which gives you autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane departure prevention, traffic sign recognition, rear cross traffic alert and a reversing camera. Plus a side centre airbag, unique to the D-Max. In fact there’s so much safety specification in new D-Max that it has achieved a five star ANCAP safety rating using tough new 2020 criteria, making it the safest ute in the market.

Other tech advancements on the new model include a shift from a hydraulic steering system to electric, plus parking sensors and auto lights. Adaptive cruise control is present across the range and works on a new binocular frontal camera system, operating at any speed even inching along in slow traffic, right down to a standstill. (Auto models only)

The off-roading electronics have been very successfully re-worked with a change to the traction control system making it a more steady and safe driving experience. The same goes for the new hill descent system which cleverly kicks in as you take your foot off the brake on the downhill and holds you at that speed. Isuzu have also included a switchable differential lock – something that has been very well-received in off-road reviews.

Beneath it all is a new platform, built with very high-tensile steel giving the ute a 20 per cent increase in rigidity and chassis strength.

Isuzu’s unrelenting focus on technology and safety specifications have produced a class-leading new ute, something which you will appreciate as soon as you get behind the wheel. It’s been worth the eight year wait – but don’t wait too long to test drive one today to see just how good this new D-Max is.
