Looking ahead to 2023

2023 will mark our 11th year of sponsorship of this iconic Wellington event, and it will also be our fifth year as naming rights sponsor. The 2023 Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays date will be on Sunday, 19 February 2023 and we’re looking forward to working with Nuku Ora to make it an even bigger and better event than ever before. At present it’s the third largest participatory event in New Zealand!

“It’s our 11th year sponsoring the event, but we are still just as excited as the very first time. It’s such an iconic event for Wellington, and we love knowing that so many people enjoy it and benefit from taking part,” Dave Foot, Brendan Foot Supersite Dealer Principal, said.

“The Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays helps connect us to people across the region in a different way from our core business of vehicle sales and servicing. It’s a great opportunity for us to give something back to the community especially after the past couple of years when so many things have been out of reach or cancelled,” Dave added.

As ever, we’ll be encouraging our staff and customers to take part, and once again will be running a competition for entrants. The beauty of the event is there’s something for everyone, regardless of age or ability. Course lengths range from 6.5km to the half marathon 21km and you can run, walk or push a buggy. Go for a world record, personal best or just get some fresh air along Wellington’s waterfront!

Registrations for the 2023 event open on 4 November. For more details, see the Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays website.

Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays 2022

2022 was our 10th year sponsoring Round the Bays and our 4th as naming rights sponsor. The 2022 Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays was scheduled for Sunday 20 February, however due to Covid restrictions at the time, the hard decision was made to cancel the live event. After all the hard work and preparation that had gone into planning the weekend, and with thousands of entrants, our hearts went out to Nuku Ora. We acknowledge the effort of those who took part in the replacement virtual event held over a ten days from 18-27 February.

Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays 2021

On Sunday 21 February, over 13,800 people took part in the 2021 Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays. In our 9th year of sponsoring the event, we were delighted this year to again be the principal naming rights sponsor. It was a great day for it, and our own Brendan Foot Supersite team of over 80 were out in force.

Notable achievements this year for the event were raising $23,067 for the Mental Health Foundation NZ; 350 people being event day volunteers; and having medals made from bamboo and recycled metals, plus recyclable race bibs.

Six of our sign-written vehicles featured as kilometre markers, and were a welcome sight for many. It was wonderful to see so many people running, walking and pushing prams around the various event lengths. We’re looking forward to next year’s event already!

Proud Sponsors

In its 43rd year, Round the Bays is truly an iconic Wellington event, benefiting both the participants and the city. Wellington Round the Bays is the third largest participation event in New Zealand and the largest in the lower North Island.

As a sponsor of Round the Bays for many years, as well as sponsoring the Central Pulse and the Wellington Phoenix, Matthew Foot, Dealer Principal, saw the Naming Rights opportunity as a good fit with our community support and sport focus.

“We are a local family business and we support local events. Our decision to extend our involvement of the Round the Bays was an easy one”, says Matthew Foot.

“With over 130 staff at our three locations we are one of the largest and most well-established vehicle sales and service locations in the Wellington region. We are fully aware of the importance health and wellness plays in people’s lives. The Round the Bays event is all about participation, and we encourage our team to participate every year.”

Along with being the Naming Rights sponsor we also supply vehicles to mark each kilometre for the 6.5km course which are a very popular points of interest on the course.

If you missed out this year, look out for information on the 2022 event at the  Round the Bays website.
