Who we are
Brendan Foot Supersite (or BFS) was founded by Brendan Foot as Garden City Motors in Lower Hutt in 1973 with one employee and 20 cars.
Brendan’s a car enthusiast and family man born and bred in the Wellington region. His goal was to create a car dealership with good, old-fashioned values – good service and good customer care. It’s not just a name on a sign – we’re here and care about what we do.
We’ve grown from humble beginnings into a trusted family business of over 140 teammates. Brendan still comes to work most days and is still selling cars. His sons, David and Matthew, run the company. It’s since expanded into four locations that provide convenient servicing for over 70,000 customers in Trentham, Lower Hutt, Porirua and Wellington City.
Famous for our vast selection of new and high-quality used cars, our team can help you find the perfect match. Lower Hutt remains our central hub, open every day (even Sunday) and is home to an impressive line-up of used cars, plus some of New Zealand’s favourite new car brands – GWM, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, OMODA and JAECOO. Including the most extensive range of 20+ EVs and Hybrids under one roof. If you’re looking for a ute or van, visit our team at our specialist Commercial Vehicle Centre in Porirua. It’s home to the Isuzu, Hyundai and GWM commercial vehicle range, plus you’ll find a great selection of high-quality used vehicles with heaps of extras.
From March 2024, brands OMODA and JAECOO will be available from our Kent Terrace, Wellington pop-up showroom.

About Brendan
Brendan’s been a car nut from a very young age and probably caught the bug from his uncle who used to own ACME Motors in Cuba St. The rest of his family were lawyers. His first car was a Morris Minor 1000 and he’s owned and sold countless cars over the decades. One of his favourite brands is Holden, ideal for New Zealand, and he was sad to see it go. In 2023, Brendan celebrated two significant milestones – 50 years marriage and 50 years in business. One of the best things to come from starting the business is his customers becoming good friends.

About Matthew
Matthew’s a massive car enthusiast who loves sharing his passion with others. Matthew and David always have their finger on the pulse, looking for new models, brands, and services to give you the best cars and experience. Matthew lives locally, close to his daughter and granddaughter.
He loves sport and is a keen cyclist, completing several of New Zealand’s endurance bike trails, including the epic Tour Aotearoa from Cape Reinga to Bluff. He also shares Brendan’s enthusiasm for New Zealand art and has his own collection.

David Foot
About David
David has three young children – two sons and a daughter. He’s all about sports, especially rugby and golf, and he’s a familiar figure at the finish line of Round the Bays Wellington.
During rugby season, he’s the loudest and proudest supporter of his boys who play for the Wests Roosters Junior Rugby team. David and his family are also big fans of New Zealand’s vibrant art scene. Serving as a Director on the Board of the NZ Art Show, he contributes to the promotion and growth of the NZ art community.
